Family Support and Training Programs

Provided by Hollyburn Family Services

Provides family support such as counselling to help families with life challenges.
Hollyburn’s family programs offer a broad spectrum of publicly-funded family counselling options to address the many challenges that people face at all different stages of life. Both short-term publicly funded options (for families with children under the age of 19) and longer-term affordable options are provided for all families who live on the North Shore.

Short term publicly funded support includes group and individual services as well as specialized parent-teen mediation.

Parents living on the North Shore with children under the age of 19 are eligible for this free, 8-12 session, Family Support Service. Family support workers are trained parent educators and facilitators who work directly with you and your family to promote healthy patterns of communication, increase cooperation, and connect your family to additional community services and supports. Services can be delivered in the family home, in the community, at the office, or online. Hours of service are flexible and include evenings.. Family support includes the following:
  • Parent training, education and skills development to promote more cooperative behaviors from children
  • Creating strategies for limiting screen time, addressing poor school attendance/performance, sibling conflict, and peer struggles
  • Helping parents to network and collaborate with schools, health services, and other community services to increase support for their children and teens.
