Youth Programs - North Vancouver

Provides various programs and services for youth in the Capilano area.
The Capilano Community Services Society Youth Program supports youth from Grades 6 to 12 and young adults aged 18–24. It offers one-to-one support, social activities, and programs that build social-emotional skills and resilience. Youth Outreach Workers (YOWs) provide basic support, assess risks, and refer youth to specialized services when needed. They work individually and in groups to help youth develop life skills, independence, and positive change.

Youth Programs include:
  • Drop-In Programs: Youth Outreach Workers provide on site drop-in programs that foster community engagement in fun, safe and supervised settings that include activities like games clubs, drop-in art, and sports. For updated schedules, click here.
  • Registered Programs: The Youth team collaborates with multiple different community members and partners to provide diverse experiences and activities for youth. Sometimes these activities can only accommodate a certain number of participants to keep the activities low-barrier and free of cost. Registered programming will be announced ahead of time for all interested individuals to have time to sign up.
  • One-to-One Support: Youth Outreach Workers offer one-to-one support, listening, and advocating for youth in need. They assist with a range of topics such as problems at school, anger management, anxiety, self-esteem, job search, and family.
During the school year they offer School Outreach Programs and services at:
  • Norgate Xwemélch’stn Elementary: grades 6 – 7, After School Program with on-site activities and out-trips
  • Carson Graham Secondary: grades 8 – 12, one-to-one support and lunch visits
  • Handsworth Secondary: grades 8 – 12, one-to-one support and lunch visits
  • Mountainside Secondary: grades 8 – 12, one-to-one support and lunch visits
Referrals are accepted from parents/guardians, self-referrals from youth, health practitioners, and community organizations. They can also assist in making referrals to other community health and social service organizations.
