Employment, Mental Health - Adult & Senior, and Mental Health - Child & Youth

The Employment Program focuses on the participant’s strengths, interests and employment goals, providing personalized counselling and support, to assist in well-being through employment, short-term training or volunteerism. Support services begin when the client identifies as job ready and continues as long as the participant wants and needs the support.
Anyone can complete the referral form, either to self-refer or a referring agency may complete the form to support the client in accessing this program.
Support is Provided to Individuals who are:
- Motivated to attain meaningful employment, volunteer work, or education/training,
- Facing multiple health and social barriers,
- Residing within commuting distance to Nanaimo.
Program Delivery
- An Occupational Therapist supports participants with their mental and physical wellness using a trauma-informed and evidence-based approach such as skill building, self-management, and psychosocial assessment and intervention
- A Vocational Counsellor provides personalized, evidence-based employment support to help participants obtain meaningful work by providing links to long-term employment opportunities, job coaching, job sustainment support, and assisting participants with acquiring the skills and/or training needed for sustainable employment.
- Peer Support Workers utilize their lived experience and expertise, providing support to participants along their vocational and recovery journey.
