Financial Support for Recreation

Provided by Burnaby Community Services (BCS)

Programs that provide financial assistance for children to attend camp and take part in recreational activities.
  • Camping Bureau: The Burnaby Camping Bureau provides subsidies for Burnaby children from low income households to attend a week of summer day camp. The subsidies of $100 (maximum) will allow children the opportunity to attend a local camp that their families would otherwise be unable to afford. To qualify, applicants must reside in Burnaby, have children between the ages of 5 and 15, meet low-income criteria, and be able to provide supporting documentation.

  • FAIR Play Program (formerly known as Recreation Credit): Provides equitable access to parks, recreation, and cultural programs for Burnaby residents facing financial challenges. This program provides a $250 credit per youth, adult, or senior for registered activities or passes, $500 per child, and an annual Be Active Pass for each individual. To qualify, applicants must reside in Burnaby and meet one of the following criteria:
    • Receive government income assistance (federal or provincial)
    • Meet the income criteria
    • Child with a disability
    • Canadian Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel CUAET) applicant or privately sponsored refugee
    • Have an approved agency referral
