Moving Ahead: FreeRunning Program for Newcomer Youths

Provides support for newcomer youth aged 16 to 28 who are experiencing challenges adjusting to life in Canada.
The program focuses on building skills, confidence, and connections to help immigrant and refugee youth successfully integrate into their communities. Support is available to find a job, socialize, and gain life and leadership skills.

Eligibility: This newcomer program is available for youth:
  • Looking for a job
  • Adjusting to Canadian culture
  • Looking to gain leadership, social, or basic computer skills
  • Have a low level of education or no formal education
  • Want to learn about Canadian social norms
  • Seeking skills or career training
  • Experiencing feelings of isolation or limited social support

Youth in the program are assigned a Case Manager who provides individualized one-to-one support. Services may include home visits, accompaniment to appointments, workshops, and connections to other services and programs.

They also help:

  • Create plans and processes, and keep track of settlement goals
  • Access information related to settlement
  • Join social and recreational events and friendship circles
  • Explore job and career options
  • Learn life and leadership skills
All registrants are required to complete an assessment before joining the program. Youth who are not eligible will be referred to other appropriate programs. If referring a client or patient, the referral form must be completed. See form below.
